My photography project ‘Unsullied & Untarnished, the Common Ridings and Festivals of the Scottish Borders’ will be exhibiting in UAE, in Sharjah emirate, from 9th-15th February 2023, at Xposure – the leading international photography festival.
I’m delighted to be invited by the curator Simon Newtown and his team to exhibit photography work from Scotland, and to also partake in the seminar presentations during the week where I will discuss and show further projects from my career.
The project I will be exhibiting in UAE is the work I undertook in 2013-2014 documenting the common riding festivals of the Scottish borders, work which has previously been exhibited at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, as well as in Glasgow’s Street Level Photoworks gallery, Millenium Centre, Wales and in L’Orient celtic festival in France.
A book of the work, ‘Unsullied & Untarnished, the Common Ridings and Festivals of the Scottish Borders’, is also available.
Other photographers exhibiting at Xposure 2023 include Steve McCurry of Magnum, photojournalist Giles Clarke (whose work I’ve long admired), colleagues and friends Simon Roberts and John Angerson, and other luminaries such as award-winning photojournalist Daniel Berehulak, portrait photographer par excellence Dan Winters, National Geographic photographers Evgenia Arbugaeva and Jodi Cobb, pre-eminent sports photographer Neil Leifer, and many more. It promises to be a great week of photography exhibits, talks, workshops and more.
